Hey I have a question about this method and the size of the stock or stipe or stem. I found some growing near a power line that had recently been mulched in this particular location and these things are everywhere clustered off of the ground but the stem is big and I just don't know enough

Except i'll start by growing winter oysters (locally sourced in the wild), topping my 3d compost bin (nearly cooked) and the 4th one (cooked) with straw and spawn slurry. Will try and avoid active-ant season - not sure if that will give the spores enough time to grow mycelium and fruit, maybe if i shelter them from the cold somewhat. I anticipate mycelium growth at least, and will see where to go from there. Couldn't quite work out when you added the elm oysters to the straw. Somewhen in summer, to have them fruiting late summer or early autumn? Will try these around my allotment too. 🙏🏽 both , and 🌳🕊💚

A friend has 10 or so of these kits and gave me one. The problem is there are mushrooms already growing INSIDE the bag. What steps should I take for this. Thank you.

I just need a container, I'm pretty picky at choosing the best choice for this. And the containers at the store here I live are to make Vine and Beer and they're huuuge 😂

Hello. I plan to grow oyster mushroom using totem method. I read and watch many others demonstrate this method. However, no one has mentioned about the second flush, second years/season, of the totem. What is your experiences with the life expectancy of the totems and their multiple years and seasons production. Thank you very much.

I would guess no. Fighting for life would have to make it stronger and more potent as a direct result. I forage wild mushrooms. Medicinals mostly and I'd put them up against spawn grown any day.

great video and advise. I like it all but the screws. Saftey is certainly important. My dogs and grandsons would knock them over " for sure". What about a stake and some recycled baler twine ( sisal of course), lol. While watering mine I was thinking a cap that would hold water and trickle it out? One of the commentors mentioned a mushroom cap. With a water supply? Hummm. Gotta build that.

I've never sterilized substrate. Never sterilized a surface or containers. Never had an issue. Substrate is sprayed with either Rescue Remedy, or Aust. Bush Flower Emergency Essence.

Would it help kill off competition from other spores if you gave it boiling water bath or threw it in a fire for a little?

Why would you want to go through all that to heat the water to kill germs when you're putting it right back on that table that probably isn't even clean......
